Budget travelers who always seem to strip down to the bare necessities find it difficult to indulge again. After spending time abroad and limiting themselves to Menu deals or partying only in their hostel; partying back home can be overwhelming. Suddenly, spending over $100/ USD last night doesn’t seem so far fetched. But, you forget that a few months ago, you stretched $20 and lived comfortably.

It’s been nearly a month since the Travel Blog Exchange Conference was held in New York City and people are still talking (and recovering?) about it. It was more than just the conference and we’ve even highlighted that the top things TBEX attendes love besides TBEX. Cailin O’Neil shows a glimpse of how good we had it in New York City.
One of my favorite guilty pleasures besides traveling is a travel reality show called “The Amazing Race.” If you haven’t heard of it, its a somewhat glamorized version of reality backpacking. Adventure seekers travel around the globe in a race to win a million dollars. Most of our journeys end in life goals being accomplished; which is just as rewarding as a million bucks.
While bloggers continue to suffer from post Tbex depression, many of us try to relive happy Tbex memories by uploading photographs, having post Tbex meetups in New York or writing posts about why Tbexers love this growing travel conference.
When you are born and raised in a city like New York; its easy to forget what makes it glow. Hot summer days are upon us; bringing sweaty and uncomfortable subway rides, long lines at Jamba Juice (My favorites place to get a smoothie.) and watching sunsets at Hudson River Park. Its too bad the New York summer seems to fall short; truly beginning at this time and ending right on Labor Day the first week of September. It has been a while since summer has extended its visit here. Maybe that is what makes such a New York City summer so special; its limited appearance.
After a long week of Pre-Prebex, happy hours and taco trucks, it’s somewhat sad to say that Tbex 2010 is over. (For the most part.) Travel bloggers, travel media gurus and travel lovers united this weekend for Tbex 2010 in New York City. This being my first Travel Exchange Blog Conference; it’s easy to soak up the panels, the socials and the drinks! Nonetheless, Art of Backpacking kept a keen eye as to what Tbex-er’s love, that is more than the actual conference itself!

Every year when June rolls around in New York City, it means a lot of things. Hopefully, nice weather, the end of studies for high school students and the celebration of Puerto Rico. Oddly enough to say, people usually wonder what the second weekend in June means for Puerto Rico. The Puerto Rican Independence Day would technically be in September, to commemorate its independence from Spain. But, the tropical nation isn’t really fully independent, but a commonwealth of the United States.
