Don’t Quit

Dont Quit

by Michael Tieso on July 6, 2009

“When things go wrong as they sometimes will
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill.
When funds are low and the debts are high.
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit.
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns.
As everyone of us sometimes learns.
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out:

Don’t give up though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt.
And you never can tell how close you are.
It may be near when it seems so far:
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit
It’s when things seem worst that you must not QUIT.”

Sunset at Angkor Wat

During my time in SE Asia, I’ve had most of my things stolen, lost, or broken. In a sense, it’s part of traveling. iPod was taken out of my bag this morning due to an amateur move of leaving my bag unattended. Although my path has been tough at times, I keep strong and so should you.

I was watching the sun set over Angkor Wat yesterday and just thought to myself “How did I get this lucky?” and the good feeling of travel comes back as it always does.

  • Yes at times travel can really take its toll. We had our camera stolen in Namibia Last year. It was one of those amateur moments like you, when we said to ourselves why were we so stupid. But we moved on bought a cheap new camera and managed to enjoy the rest of the trip. Looks like you are doing that as well. The sunset over Angkor is beautiful. Were there hot air balloons in the air as well?
