Beautiful Music of the Solomon Islands

Thanks to the Libraryman on Flickr for capturing the essence of spirit and dance on the Solomon Islands.

His description: “These musicians and dancers were in Honiara, Solomon Islands the day the ship sailed in. They had come to this “big” island for a dance gathering the previous day. We were very fortunate to see them make their amazing and beautiful music both in the towns fair grounds and also at the ships dock. Upon arriving and depating they came to greet and bid us farewell with their lovely music and dancing. Definitely a highlight of my travels. btw, all their instruments, including percussion, are made from bamboo. Amazing! ”

In all parts of the world, there is nothing like coming together as one and enjoying the sounds of music; whether it be at home, sharing an ipod on the bus on your way to work or in another part of the world, it brings us together as one. How has music influenced your life? Does it play a huge impact to understanding who you are?
