Thailand

I love inspirational quotes. I’m frequently posting quotes I’m inspired by on Art of Backpacking’s Facebook Page that may relate to travelers. These signs were spotted in Chiang Mai, Thailand. There were plenty of these signs at this particular park but I took shots of my favorite ones.

The legendary Southeast Asia Buckets; the backpacking trail just wouldn’t be the same without it. Perhaps for the same reason Goon is to Australia. Who knew the same bucket we used as children to build sandcastles with, would be used again to go into oblivion with on the other side of the world?

One of my favorite guilty pleasures besides traveling is a travel reality show called “The Amazing Race.” If you haven’t heard of it, its a somewhat glamorized version of reality backpacking. Adventure seekers travel around the globe in a race to win a million dollars. Most of our journeys end in life goals being accomplished; which is just as rewarding as a million bucks.

Hanging out with locals is what most backpackers dream for and every now and then, we get the real local feel of the culture through the people. I’ve had a similar experience (without as much alcohol though) in Bangkok, Thailand as well. This video brought back a memory of when I randomly met a Thai man on a train going back to Bangkok and then suddenly were drinking beers and I was invited to his house and was given a private tour by him. A family I’ll never forget.

On my recent visit to Koh Phi Phi Islands, I noticed several signs providing warnings and they were all done with a sense of humor. I love them. Makes for a good laugh.
