The Best Rate Guaranteed v2.0

A few months ago, Skylab and I told our story about how awesome the Best Rate Guaranteed was and how we were able to take part in getting free hotel stays every once in a while. In April, the policy changed and it ended the possibility of free hotel stays for the future. With Skylab on the road and myself back at home, it was a bummer to hear that our new favorite deal was done. Until now.

Welcome Version 2.0 of The BRG: Expedia style. Expedia.com has a Guarantee that the boys at the blog have been able to fit to recreate the BRG campaign.

The new definition: (From the BRG site)

A “Best Rate Guarantee” is a travel provider’s guarantee that they will provide the lowest rate available for your hotel room on the internet, or provide you with some form of compensation, whether that be rate matching, beating by a percent amount, or in our case with Expedia.com, giving you the difference plus a $50 voucher for a future hotel purchase.

Sounds good right? Gives you a good reason to get out and travel? How do you do it?

The easiest method for getting free rooms in a hurry is by completing a short search for your desired city on our comparison partner site HotelsCombined and other hotel comparison sites on the internet like Kayak and Sidestep.

By using these sites, you’ll be able to easily compare hundreds of websites at once, comparing prices side by side, all on one line. Compare these prices (from a variety of different sites) to the prices on Expedia.com.

You file your claim by telephone at 1-800-Expedia in real-time. Simply call this number and say “I want to file a Best Price Guarantee claim”. The agent will ask you where you found the lower rate.

You may guide the agent directly to the rate you located in real-time. Claims usually take five to ten minutes, depending on the ease of locating the rate. If your BRG is valid, the agent will issue a refund to your credit card for the difference in price between their website and the competing website, and then “drop” an Expedia $50 voucher into your “Saved Vouchers” within your account.

It seems like the BRG boys are back in business. There are a number of new hotels to check out for free nights! We at AOB are going to test this new BRG and try our luck once again! We were fortunate and thankful enough to get them in the past so perhaps we can do so again!

We’d like to thank the BRG guys once again for creating their site and showing a great tutorial for those of us who want to participate in frugal travel and do appreciate a free room!

Did you participate in the free BRG’s in the past? Will you now?

Thanks for that advise, I will surely take advantage of it
  • so you can get rooms for free? how does this work: you pay and get a refund, or never have to put any money down or ???
  • The BRG site we linked has a FAQ that will answer all your questions and more. I believe it depends on the type of room you book if its pay in full or not then you get refunded the difference and an extra $50 into your expedia account.
