Congrats on your free win! I dont think LMT knew how big this would grow as well, but it doesnt justify them changing the rules for week 2!

Yeah, it was pretty awesome and totally unexpected! I did some calculating, and even if the hotel charges the rack rate, the most tax I will have to pay for a week in Paris is $150, and I would be hard-pressed to find even the cheapest of hostels to be able to do a week for under $150. I called them right away with my tax info so I wouldn't lose the room, since most sweepstakes (of any kind) will simply cancel your winnings if you don't report. I dunno, I've had nothing but a good experience so far.

That's great that you won! I have heard many of the winners complain about the 1099 tax information. Some are delaying it as long as possible but receiving pretty nasty response back from LMT.

I was able to get 6 nights at a Paris 3* on this deal during week 1, but it was pure luck that I happened to log on when the sale was going. I work for an airline (ultimate backpacker job!) so the flight for me is also free... until about a week ago, this would have set the record for my cheapest trip ever. You may want to add an update that winners received an email from LMT about a week after the contest ended stating that they would need to provide tax information. Because this is a contest, winners need to report the value of the trip as income and be taxed on it. Fortunately I only booked a 3*, so the amount of tax I will have to pay will be pretty low. For those that booked the 5* $800/night luxury suites, they will have to pay quite a bit more, which would have put the trip out of my (admittedly tiny) budget range. Feel free to contact me if you want! I've been on the phone with LMT quite a bit over the past few weeks.

I truly think that LMT didn't realize how many people would be going for the big hotels the first week and how fast the special would catch on. It seems that people were able to get the hotel deal easier in Week 1. I was one of the lucky people who booked a 4 star in London on Day 3 of the promotion during Week 1. The clock never ran fast and I got in during a 7.5 minute interval and had time to spare. The only thing I didn't like was that I had been searching the hotels for awhile and when the $1 promotion timer came up--magically all the 5 stars I was looking at disappeared and only one 4 star was available. But in the end, I can and will not complain because I still received 7 nites in London for free.

I actually was a winner of this promo. I finally won early Friday am. Spent days and days on the computer. Only two or three choices showed up in the promo compared to what was available while I as searching. My hotel was switched at confirmation. A bit disappointed after spending all the time looking at the hotels I got something different, but it is a free vacation. Feel free to contact me if you want.
