What Are Your Roots?

A few years ago, on one of my earliest trips abroad, I was lucky enough to visit Madrid Spain. As a happy-go-lucky 16 year old, the biggest thing on my mind was getting cool souvenirs. Little did I know that one souvenir would stand out and sort of change my life forever.

I was looking at Spanish key chains with surname explanations. A little cooler than your typical name key chain. I saw my last name on it. All of my life, I knew I was Puerto Rican and Taino Indian. I was happy to see my last name there and read the translation.

It said that it was Baroque and part French. Que! Oui! Yes! It was true. After some research, I learned that my family (On my fathers side) is from the region where Spain and France meet.

It is awesome to know where you are from and to trace your heritage!

Where are you from? What is your heritage?
